The word ”Keshi” is Japanese for “poppy seeds,” and here it means a very small pearl.
Keshi pearls are produced by chance during the process of culturing pearls, so they are very close to natural pearls.
Akoya Keshi are becoming more and more rare.
Akoya Keshi are less than 0.5% of the yearly Akoya cultured pearl harvest.
It takes great skill and effort to sort, drill, and string these very small pearls by hand.
