Blood red coral silver dragon claw ring
Blood red coral silver dragon claw ring
This is a blood red coral and silver 925 dragon claw adjustable ring.
Dragon claw holding Japanese blood red coral, natural color, not dyed.
Japanese blood red coral is an extraordinary type of gem.
This precious coral, which used to be harvested in the seas of southern Japan, becomes more and more rare every year.
Raw coral branches in their original state are now sold for a few hundred dollars per gram. And coral carving craftsmen are disappearing as older craftsmen retire and as the market for their work diminishes.
I happened to obtain a trove of blood red coral cabochons from before the 1980’s, and I had been thinking of the best way to use them.
You can adjust the size by opening or closing the ring.
There is a small white spot showing on the back of the red coral cabochon (please see the 10th picture). It is visible only if you look very closely.
The white core is proof of Japanese blood red coral.
